After fostering Millie for one year, I officially adopted her last week. We all are very happy!

This time last year I had a brilliant idea. I saw Millie (at that time Brigette) on my friend's rescue page. I read her bio and thought I could play fairy godmother and give her a helping hand by a new hair cut and a little training.

After I got her home, we made some pretty serious discoveries. First of all, Millie was a senior who was at least 8-10 years old. She was 100% deaf and also had an ear chronic ear infection (which we don't think are related). Adding to the mix, she has only 50% vision.

Millie had been a puppy mill breeder who spend her whole life in a wire bottom cage. My vet, could tell this because of the condition of her feet.

After two weeks, my husband predicted that Millie would never leave us. Well, he was right.

I had been thinking about this adoption for quite a few months, but just procrastinated. Two weeks ago, in a general discussion about Millie, my daughter (who is also my vet) suggested that Millie, with her medical conditions, probably had about four good years left. I finally got of my duff and talked to my friend and did all the official stuff.

At Millie's age, one of her favorite activities!

I've say this before, Millie is the happiest little dog I have. With all her problems, she is just living life to the fullest. Now that means she does sleep a lot and I must add is also a champion when it comes to snoring.
Potty training will always be a problem. I just have to make sure she has plenty of opportunities to go outside.

Here's a small video of Millie romping in the front yard.

Take care, Terri and the Pack
